After a good night's sleep we departed on a 'tourist day' in Washington DC - first stop, The Capitol Building. We were very fortunate to have the Aid to the Senator of Arkansas, Dave West, as our personal guide. Dave use to be the Assistant Varsity Coach at Wootton High School (who we play on Saturday). After our tour of the different chambers we were given access to the Senate and House of Representatives galleries. A highlight was sitting in the Senate gallery as Senator John McCain (past Presidential candidate) was delivering a Bill on defence and then proceeded to banter with his fellow Senators on a recent tweet he made about the Russian elections and the criticism he then received from Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin about the adverse effects of his time in a Vietnam prison.
Dave organised for us to have lunch in the Senator's Dining Room. The boys were very respectful, as they were all day, especially with a Senator having a lunch meeting at the next table. We then visited the Lincoln Memorial, an option of exploring the Flight & Space Museum or the Natural History Museum, followed by shopping and dinner on the way home to our hotel.
