Day 1 - Friday 2nd December, 2011

After well over 30 hours of flying, four different airports, multiple queues and a visit to the “Golden Coral Buffett” all-you-can-eat in Omaha, the boys are finally asleep in their rooms enjoying a very well-earned rest. I think it took around 15 minutes after we checked-in for snoring to be the only sound to be heard.

While the trip was long, the boys were incredibly well-behaved and fine ambassadors for their school and country. On our last flight from Detroit to Omaha the Senior Flight Attendant at the end of the flight made a public announcement on the plane, commending the manners and behaviour of the boys from Trinity Australia (something she said she had never felt compelled to do before in her entire career). We also had a birthday celebration for Erin Saricilar at dinner - he is the only person I know that has had a 40 hour-long birthday.

A very brisk minus 3 degrees celsius greeted us as we exited the plane at Omaha Airport and we are advised that a big dump of snow is due tomorrow afternoon. Carrying around our large, thick tour jackets in our bags will certainly be worth it tomorrow!

Tomorrow is our first game against Gross Catholic High School ( http://grosscatholic.org/ ) and I am sure the boys, after a good night’s sleep, will be ready to play! The link below is to a mention that appears on their website about our visit: http://grosscatholic.org/about-us/news-atricles/236-cougars-a-aussie-basketball.html  It is not a game that is being streamed live unfortunately. At this stage the first game that you will be able to view live will be against Ravenna High School this coming Tuesday. We will send through the web details before then.

You can find a full set of today’s photos and videos (only a few today) at the following link:

Looking forward to visiting our first host families tomorrow and a great day of Basketball!

Best wishes.
